BRUSSELS HOTEL ASSOCIATION: STRONG APPEAL FOR THE PUBLIC SECTOR

JAN 28-2013 – Today at the Thon EU Hotel Loi, the members of the Brussels Hotel associations gathered with presence of different brussels regional ministers: Brigitte Grouwels and Christos Doulkeridis.

While the Brussels hotel sector which provides 12500 jobs a year is confident and has to struggle a lot to keep going, it emphasized strongly the role of politics -and the complicated institutional structure in Belgium- to make the life of the sector better and allow the different brussels hotels to be more competitive on international level. The BHA also emphasized the lack of adequacy between a non-regulated sector of private rooms to hire and the sector of international hotel which have a clear legal frame.

As for restaurants, Belgium has to cope with one of the highest labour costs into the European Union and the BHA strongly urges the Brussels Region to change deeply the situation which is known nowadays.
